Andrew Ehle
Biography:
Andrew was born in 1987 in Roy, Utah, and has subsequently lived in a variety of places across the United States. He completed his B.A. in Chemistry at West Chester University, where he worked in the lab group of Professor Felix Goodson on the synthesis and kinetic studies of norboradiene derivatives. He then attended the University of Delaware where he developed methods for forming new C-C bonds from non activated C-O bonds in the lab of Professor Mary Watson. He graduated with is Ph.D. in 2014. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys hiking, kayaking, exploring the national parks in the area, and practices Jiu Jitsu.
Research:
His research in the McQuade group is currently focused on developing methods to install enantiopure C-C bonds using the McQuade 6-membered NHC-Cu(I) catalyst.

Graduate Students
Ashley Longstreet: Fifth Year
Biography:
I was born and raised in New Jersey where I loved being surrounded by major cities and the beach. After high school, I decided to venture out of the state. I attended Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia where I graduated with a B.S. in chemistry and biomedical science in 2010. After realizing how important chemistry is to advance in society and for understanding biology, I decided to further my education in organic chemistry at Florida State where I joined the McQuade group in the winter of 2010. When I am not doing chemistry, I escape to family in Panama City where I enjoy snorkeling, fishing, and other activities. I also enjoy traveling to the St. Pete/Tampa area for some city life.
Research:
I am currently working on projects in flow chemistry and reducing the cost of the antiviral nevirapine.

Zane Miller: Fifth Year
Biography:
Born in Gainesville Georgia, Levi Zane Miller was raised in the small town of Lula GA where he grew up playing sports and enjoying the outdoors. He attended and graduated from East Hall High School, where he graduated with honors. He then attended Mercer University for one year before deciding to continue his education at North Georgia College and State University. Here, he became very interested in science (specifically chemistry) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Professional Chemistry) in May of the year 2010. Upon acceptance into the Ph. D. graduate program at Florida State University, he moved to Tallahasee FL where he now works as a Research Assistant for Dr. D. Tyler McQuade.
Research:
Currently involved in developing methods for generating capsules and solids in flow (simple microfluidics) for various applications.

Minyoung Jo: Second Year
Biography:
I grew up in Seoul, South Korea. I studied chemistry at Chung-Ang University in South Korea where I received B.S. While working as an assistant researcher at Waterworks Research Institute between 2007 and 2008, I decided to pursue an advanced degree in chemistry in the US in 2008. I continued my studies at the University of Houston where I obtained master degree in 2013, and then I moved to Florida State University where I joined the McQuade group in the summer of 2013. Other than chemistry activity, I love playing the piano, enjoying my free time with my lovely cat, and watching football with beer and wings.
Research:
My research involves the development of new transition metal catalyst and applications in flow chemistry.

Rebecca Chandler: Second Year
Biography:
I was born outside of Washington D.C., but have lived in Florida for the past 14 years. I am from Pensacola, Florida where I completed my undergraduate at the University of West Florida. I graduated in 2013 with my B.S. in chemistry, and then moved out to Tallahassee to further my studies in organic chemistry. I joined the McQuade group in December of 2013. I was drawn to the field of organic chemistry because it is always changing as new reactions are generated and old reactions are made more efficient. When I am not in the lab I like to cook and read, or go off to Pensacola to relax and visit with family as well as go to the beach to hang out and catch some sun.
Research:
I am currently working on using computational chemistry as a predictive tool for reactions as well as working on a sensor for primary amines.
